MARELAPIS – Maritime Stoneart

“The latent power and beauty of earth and sea”

Artworks by Lucyna
Maritime Stoneart captures the latent power and beauty of earth and sea and carries it into the living room. The artful symbiosis of unworked stones and maritime elements conjures an atmosphere of ease and vitality.

The Artist
Lucyna lives and works in Vienna. Born in 1965 in Breslau, she grew up in Glatz in the south of Poland before she came to Austria in 1988. Over the years, Vienna became her second home.
Next to her job in the health care sector, Lucyna has a great interest in craftsmanship and any expression of art. Her inspiration stems from the beauty of nature and her talent to view life from different perspectives. About 8 years ago, she discovered the mysterious and unexplored world of stones and maritime elements in art. After experimenting with the decorative design of flower pots, terrace spaces and walls, Lucyna finally started to arrange her first themes on canvas in 2010. As a pioneer of this new art style, she finally introduced her works to the public as MARELAPIS – Maritime Stoneart.
Lucyna Smolak brings creativity and diligent craftsmanship to each of her art works. Her unique combination of forms and shapes creates new identities by injecting new life into the natural texture of all her materials. Maritime Stoneart was developed by the artist providing new impulses to the perpetually evolving world of art while introducing a unique spark of life to her own pieces.

Maritime Stoneart
Stones exist in a great variety of shapes, colours and materials all over the world. They are known as vessels of energy and symbols for eternity – sometimes understood as the “fundamental skeleton of the Earth”.
Some stones are even said to harbour healing powers. Whether granite, marble, slate, quartzite, sandstone or limestone – each stone constitutes an individual being in shape and colour. In turn the oceans also contain a vital, multifaceted world: Mussels, slugs, starfish and other elements of the deep seas project beauty and immortality – a spark which rarely reaches the surface.
With the development of Maritime Stoneart, Lucyna Smolak managed to reignite the latent vitality of the earth and sea by celebrating the variety of stones and maritime elements in art. MARELAPIS introduces the hidden depths of our planet to your living room.
The displayed works show the artists current fascination with bold motives and her experimentation with different themes which aim to fascinate and revitalise their beholder.
